Health Certificates

Health Certificates for Travel
Traveling with your pet? Whether you're planning a cross-country move or an international adventure, our team at South Golden Pet Hospital is here to make the process seamless and stress-free.
What Is a Health Certificate?
A health certificate is an official document completed by a licensed veterinarian confirming that your pet is healthy, up to date on vaccinations, and safe to travel. Many airlines, states, and countries require a valid health certificate before allowing pets to enter or travel.
Domestic Travel (Within the U.S.)
If you're traveling within the United States, requirements can vary depending on your destination and airline. Most domestic health certificates:
- Must be issued within 10 days of travel
- Confirm your pet is free of contagious diseases
- Verify current rabies vaccination
Our team will ensure all documentation meets the specific requirements for your destination so there are no surprises at check-in.
International Travel
Traveling internationally with a pet requires more advanced planning and detailed documentation. Requirements vary widely by country and may include:
- Specific vaccination timelines (including rabies)
- Microchipping
- Blood tests or parasite treatments
- USDA endorsement of paperwork
We strongly recommend starting the process at least 4–8 weeks in advance, sometimes longer depending on the destination.
Our experienced team will guide you step-by-step, helping you navigate country-specific regulations and coordinating with the USDA APHIS when needed.
Our Health Certificate Services Include:
- Comprehensive physical exam
- Review of vaccination records
- Guidance on travel requirements by destination
- Completion of all necessary documentation
- Coordination for USDA endorsement (if required)
Planning Ahead
Because travel requirements can change quickly, we recommend:
- Scheduling your appointment as soon as travel is planned
- Bringing all prior vaccine records
- Letting us know your exact travel date, airline, and destination
This allows us to ensure everything is completed accurately and on time.
